Now Hosting 2010 Greenbrier Cup at PeteDeremer.com

As a graduating senior, I can no longer be the president for WVU Club Tennis.  This week, Jamie Hanna took over as the new president.  This means that I also am no longer the webmaster, and as such can't maintain the old Greenbrier Cup page on the club's website.  I am still the director for the event however and need access to maintain information and keep it updated.  My solution for this was to move the tournament information here.  Here I can maintain it as I wish, giving teams the most up-to-date information there is.

So, be sure to check out the new page.  And check back soon, as I'll be posting more information on it such as pictures, forms, and fliers.

End of Spring Semester

Well the end of the semester is approaching (tomorrow at 10am) and man I can not even begin to explain how much i need it. Between project classes eating up time like crazy, I have not have had much time to see just how much I have done this semester. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Trying to get Club Tennis better situated to be a top 5 school in the section.  It's recruitment time!
  • Winner of the Individual Sportsmanship Award at the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Tennis on Campus Sectionals
  • Winner of the Team Sportsmanship Award at the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Tennis on Campus Sectionals (Yes, I won both! )
  • Served as the league coordinator for Morgantown USTA Leagues.  Attempted (But failing. I was close though!) to get Morgantown tennis more united...  Guess there's always next year!
  • Started my "summer project".  More will be revealed later in the project.  It is tennis related, and should be pretty epic.  If all goes well, it may shake up the tennis world pretty good.
  • Bought a car
  • Pulled my first all nighter. (had to pull about 6 this semester)
  • Was picked for the Webmaster position in the Student Government Association.
  • Stepping up Club Tennis's role at the Sport Club Federation meetings.  (Ran for VP, but didn't get it)
  • First Tennis on Campus Mid-Atlantic Section Committee meeting
  • Found another club tennis president who is also computer science major! (how rare!)
  • I'm  sure some other things that I'm forgetting.

Those are some of the highlights.  I'm glad that the semester is over because now I can really focus on getting Club Tennis ready for the fall semester, where i fully want us to be much more powerful next year!  I'll also focus on my summer project a lot now.  I really believe that it can change how things are currently done, and can't wait to release it in a beta form later this summer.

USTA Mid-Atlantic wrote an article about the Mid-Atlantic Tennis on Campus Sectionals,  because WVU Club Tennis won the Team Sportsmanship Award and I won the Individual Sportsmanship Award.

WVU Club Tennis Spring 2009 Practices

WVU Club Tennis will following the following practice schedule starting Jan 17th, 2009:

Saturday: 3 pm - 5 pm

Sunday:    8pm - 10 pm

Practice will be held at the Shell building and will not take place when there is a Men's Basketball game that night.  Saddly we won't be able to get the Shell building on those days.

We will be using temporary/portable nets that we will have to put up and take down every time we play however, we can play.  And at a much lower cost.  Grants and such will be used to pay for matches against another team.

Spread The Word!!!

DC – MD – WV Tennis On Campus Website

When WVU Club Tennis joined the DC/MD Tennis on Campus League, i checked out their website. To my surprise the website hadn't been updated since 2006! Thats a really out of date website!

I immediately started to think of options that would be good for everyone. I was trying to find something that was:
1) Neutral. One school wouldn't be in control
2) Multiple Access Points. I wanted several people to have the control needed to change things on the website.
3) Easy to edit. I wanted people to be able to edit it quickly and easily.

I found all of these things in Google Sites. Since then I have rebuilt the website for the district, and launched today!
